Portsmouth is a few minutes from Kittery across the Memorial Bridge, and it is where a lot of Perham’s office work happens. Downtown around Market Square and the brick Federal-era streets of the South End have professional offices, law and design firms, and third-floor walk-up apartments that all need looking after. The West End along Islington Street has newer condos and small businesses. Pease International Tradeport has the larger offices, labs and clinics, cleaned in the evenings so nobody is working around staff. On the residential side, Portsmouth homes range from 1700s clapboard houses with narrow stairs and a lot of small-pane glass to new construction off Lafayette Road, and all of it is priced on the same published bedroom list. Window washing at $12 a window and hard-floor care for retail and office space are both regular bookings on this side of the river.
