New Castle is the island at the mouth of the Piscataqua, reached by Route 1B from Portsmouth, and it is a short hop from Kittery. It is the smallest town in New Hampshire by area and almost entirely residential: 1700s and 1800s colonials and shingle-style homes along Main Street and Wentworth Road, waterfront properties around Great Island Common and out by Fort Constitution, and the Wentworth by the Sea end of the island. Ocean on three sides means the windows are the first thing owners ask about. Salt film builds on glass here in weeks, not months, so window washing at the published $12 per window, inside and out, is booked spring and fall by most of Perham’s New Castle clients and added to recurring house cleans by the rest. The homes are older and cared for, and the room-by-room checklist suits them: bathroom floors washed by hand, cabinet doors wiped, wood floors vacuumed and mopped properly.
